Kimchee Girl FAQ's
How long does kimchee last?
So you bought my kimchee and want to know how long does it last? Well... in my house, not long !
The answer is for Cabbage Kimchee it should last in your fridge for at least 2-3 months. It will turn sour the older it gets. Personally that is my favorite way to enjoy kimchee! I cook the old kimchee and add pork. Kinda like pork and sauerkraut but kicked up!!! You can also add tofu, rice cakes, and green onion while it’s cooking. It is my favorite way to enjoy kimchee.
If you purchased my Cucumber Kimchee it should last 1-2 months in the fridge.
I'm local, can I pickup kimchee?
Kimchee Girl kimchee is for sale locally and is available for pickup. Just send us a message a eat@kimcheegirl.com or call 717.500.1663 with what you would like and when you would like to pick up your order in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Please contact us before stopping by the office. We have a limited supply... our kimchee is flying off the shelf.
Does kimchee have to be refrigerated?
Yes. Refrigeration will slow down the fermentation process. We highly suggest keeping fermented foods refrigerated to preserve quality!
Will Kimchee Gril ship to my house?
Kimchee Girl only ships to the 48 contiguous United States.
So if you live in the lower 48 United States, then yes! If you live in Alaska, Hawaii, or outside of the U.S., we're sorry we can't ship to you. :-(
Why is shipping expensive?
Kimchee Girl kimchee needs to stay refrigerated, so we pack our kimchee in an insulated package with cooler packs. Shipping costs are a little pricey, but we're shipping via UPS 2nd day air. This will allow your kimchee to arrive from our refrigerator to yours still cool.
Why did my kimchee fizzed when I opened it?
Sooo... if you open your kimchee and it overflows or fizzes because the package was under pressure, it's normal. As your kimchee ferments, the byproduct is carbon dioxide. This results in pressure building up inside the package. No worries... your kimchee is alive with good bacteria which is great for gut health.
How do I eat kimchee?
With a smile!
... seriously, there is no wrong way to eat kimchee. It is great by itself, or accompanied with rice and a protein like beef or pork.
